{life} christmas countdown!

A little late but here is our Christmas countdown 2013. This is a tradition I started two years ago and I'm hoping to continue for years to come {you can see our last year list here}. It's not easy, though. Sometimes daily chores and routines get in the way, and trying to do all activities together as a family can be challenging for many reasons. But we're trying our best to do at least one quick Christmassy activity all together every day.
We had a successful first week and this week is going good so far. After two years I now know I have to be flexible. We'll probably have to tweak here and there. Some activities will be all day events, others will be just minutes. Some will go smooth, others not so much. But it's ok. I just hope they all help build up the Holidays anticipation and preparation for Christmas in my boys.

Dec 3: Put up Christmas lights outside
Dec 4: Get a Christmas tree at our local Hose Company
Dec 6: Start reading Christmas books
Dec 7: Attend the Annual Tree Lighting in our town
Dec 8: Attend a Christmas Party
Dec 9: Write letter to Santa
Dec 10: Set up Nativity scene
Dec 11: Choose some toys to donate to a local Toy drive
Dec 12: Sign and mail Christmas cards
Dec 13: Read the Nativity Story
Dec 14: Go to Christmas at the Farm
Dec 15: Watch the Polar Express
Dec 16: Learn and practice a Christmas Carol in Spanish
Dec 18: Christmas play date / Make a Christmas craft
Dec 19: Bake Christmas cookies
Dec 20: Host Chocolatada / Go see a Christmas Light show
Dec 23: Volunteer at a local Christmas event
Dec 24: Attend Christmas Eve Party
Dec 25: Attend family Christmas Dinner

I also got two 24 chocolate days till Christmas advent calendar at Trader Joe's. The boys don't eat chocolate that often around here, so I thought having a little treat after dinner every day during December will make the month feel extra special. The first day was a little hard. G didn't understand that he only gets to open one little window a day. After the second day he got the idea and now he is the one saying to his older brother "one a day Luckie!". Too cute!
